Arsenal center-back Gabriel Magalhães has signed a new long-term contract. Although the club did not report the length of the new deal, sources have told CBS Sports and The Guardian that the new deal will run until 2027. Gabriel ed Arsenal for €26 million from Lille in 2020 and has scored nine goals and one assist in 83 games across all competitions for the North London side. 

As Arsenal thumped Crystal Palace 5-0 on Saturday to get their title challenge back on track, it was noticeable that from about 20 minutes onwards every time the Gunners got a corner, the crowd were almost celebrating. Roy Hodgson’s men couldn’t live with Arsenal’s set plays. Centre-half Gabriel nodded home the opener from Declan Rice’s corner after 11 minutes. Two minutes later they almost scored again, as Bukayo Saka’s corner was nearly turned into his own net by Palace’s Jefferson Lerma. And in the 38th minute it was Brazilian Gabriel rising highest again to plant his header into keeper Dean Henderson and for an own goal to double Arsenal’s lead.
